Art Direction and Visual Identity
for DALDEWOLF

Context

The legal sector often relies on highly conventional visual communication, leaving little room for distinctive identities or memorable graphic languages.

The work developed for DALDEWOLF aimed to establish a stronger visual identity while maintaining the rigour, credibility and professionalism expected from a leading law firm.

Breakfast at Stefany’s

The first visual project developed for DALDEWOLF, this illustration draws inspiration from the environment surrounding Place Stéphanie in Brussels: its fountains, rows of trees and the Wiltcher’s Hotel, where the firm’s offices are located.

Initially created for the Breakfast at Stefany’s conference series, the visual language subsequently evolved into the foundation of the firm’s institutional communication and visual identity system.

Graphic Approach

The firm’s communication was developed around a coherent graphic system built upon carefully considered typographic choices. The project combines a text typeface — Verlag — with a display typeface — Archer — creating a balance between editorial structure, elegance and readability.

The visual identity is also supported by a bespoke illustration system developed entirely in vector format. Inspired by the architectural environment of Place Stéphanie in Brussels, where the firm’s offices are located, this graphic language combines line work, oblique patterns and geometric compositions influenced by flat design.

Together, these elements form a distinctive visual system capable of ensuring consistency across a wide range of print and digital communication materials.

Environmental Graphic Design

Developed for the central column within DALDEWOLF’s Brussels offices, this environmental graphic forms part of the firm’s broader visual identity system.

Created as a vector illustration, it brings together references to DALDEWOLF’s offices in Brussels and Kinshasa, its international desks — Italian, US and China — as well as several of the firm’s legal practice areas.

The project extends the institutional graphic language into the workplace itself, reinforcing the coherence of the firm’s visual identity across both communication and physical spaces.

Colour Palette

The original corporate colour, Pantone 7712C blue, was complemented by Pantone 10129C gold and Cool Gray 11C.

This deliberately restrained palette reinforces the sense of professionalism, quality and credibility associated with the firm, while bringing greater depth and sophistication to its communication materials.

Together, these colours contribute to a visual identity that remains both distinctive and appropriate to the institutional context in which DALDEWOLF operates.

2023 Holiday Card — DALDEWOLF

Designed for DALDEWOLF‘s 2023 holiday greetings, this illustration brings together architectural and graphic references connected to the firm’s environment, including the Steigenberger Wiltcher’s Hotel, home to the firm’s offices, and the dome of Brussels’ Palace of Justice.

The composition incorporates a series of vector elements inspired by the festive season — snow, Christmas trees and geometric forms based on circles and ellipses — while remaining consistent with the visual identity and graphic system developed for the firm.

Objective

The objective was to develop a contemporary visual identity and communication system capable of distinguishing the firm within a highly standardised sector, while ensuring consistency across a wide range of print and digital applications.

2025 Holiday Card — DALDEWOLF

Creation of DALDEWOLF‘s 2025 holiday card.

The project was driven by the desire to create a visual specifically tailored to the firm, extending its visual identity into its end-of-year communication while moving away from the generic stock imagery often used in institutional contexts.

The Christmas tree was entirely constructed from the names of the people who make up DALDEWOLF — lawyers and staff members alike — highlighting the firm’s collective and inclusive culture.

The composition is complemented by garlands formed from horizontal patterns, four Christmas ornaments displaying the digits of the year 2025, and various graphic elements associated with the holiday season, including snowflakes and stars.

Originally developed as a vector illustration, the project was subsequently adapted into a frame-by-frame animation as well as a printed version.

2023 Holiday Card — China Desk by DALDEWOLF

Creation of DALDEWOLF’s 2023 China Desk holiday card.

Since 2018, the China Desk has developed a dedicated communication strategy for its Chinese contacts — clients, prospects, collaborators and partners — through a series of visuals designed around the Chinese lunar calendar.

The project is based on the creation of a graphic system that can be adapted each year according to the animal associated with the Lunar New Year, while remaining consistent with the firm’s established visual identity.

The illustrations draw on various visual codes from Chinese culture, reinterpreted through DALDEWOLF’s own graphic language. The red traditionally associated with this type of communication is replaced by the firm’s institutional blue, ensuring coherence with its visual identity.

Floral elements, notably inspired by the peony, complement the compositions and reinforce the ornamental dimension of the project.
