Musician and Band Portraits
Context
Since 2021, Hugues de Castillo has developed a portrait photography practice dedicated to musician portraits and the representation of artists.
This work extends his concert photography practice and explores the relationship between visual identity, presence and the representation of artists.
Photographic Approach
The portraits are produced in a variety of contexts, often alongside live performances, in dressing rooms, backstage areas and the transitional spaces that surround the stage.
The approach favours spontaneity and adaptation to existing conditions rather than elaborate or artificial staging.
Subject
This series brings together musician portraits and band portraits created primarily for promotional purposes.
Beyond their communication function, these images seek to reveal the human dynamics that connect the members of a group: complicity, complementarity and collective personality.
Objective
To create musician portraits that support artists’ communication while retaining a strong documentary and human dimension.
